Katy's Asia Adventures (plus Mexico!)

A haphazard chronicle of my inevitable misadventures during a year in Vietnam and points east.

Day 3 - Part 3 - Cholula Photos

This won't be much of a post - just more photos, really. In another lucky accident, we found the local market while we were wandering aimlessly around Cholula. Markets are among my favorite places anywhere I end up -- I love the colorful displays, the revolting meat sections, the variety of people you see, the sight of people going about their daily lives. Our presence caused a bit of a stir -- kids actually chased me down to get their photos taken. Here are some of the photos taken at the market and around town.

Around town:
Church/convent/library on the Zocalo.

More men at work.

Man actually at work!!!

Even more men at work -- this is a common entrepreneurial effort, particularly in Puebla. During mass all day Sunday we saw people park on the street and hire people to wash their cars while they were inside. And they needed it -- there's lots of dust around here.

Local Market:
Ask me anything - I'm an expert in all of these little buggers now.

Mmmm, mangoes.
Not the crappy mangoes you buy for a dollar each at the Safeway, either.

This guy is ASLEEP, people -- and he can hold that paper in perfect position! That's talent. He could get a job looking busy in any U.S. corporation.

Day care, Mexican market style.

This kid
begged me to take his photo, and then called his mom and a couple other giggling ladies over so they could see him on the back of the camera.

Apples from Washington! Fish hopefully not from Washington!

Isn't the veggie lady just cute as a button?

Cheese lady is cute too!

You just can't get chiles this beautiful around here. Makes my eyes water and my sinuses act up just looking at them.
